Shrivenham Flypast

I was near to Shrivenham this evening when suddenly a Lancaster Bomber and (I think) two Typhoon fighters appeared in close formation and performed a flypast over the Defence Academy. The two fighters disappeared, but the Lancaster did a few more circuits as pictured above. This appears to have been part of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Programme.

  1. Zoe, It was the BBMF Lancaster and was escorted by two Typhoons (one on each wing) from RAF Conningsby and a Hawk from 100sqn RAF Leeming.

They all flew in formation over Long Hanborough heading towards the direction of Shrivenham, got a few pictures of them with my Canon EOS before they headed out of shot.

On the evening of 6/6/2012 the Lancaster returned with the Hurricane on it's right wing for another flypast.

There is another flypast due around 19:00hrs pn Tuesday 12th June 2012 but no details as yet to what will be turning up, so keep your eyes open and camera at the ready.
